Pleated elements, Tubes and Ribbons

High throughput rates, precise mesh openings and the proven biocompatibility of Sefar filters contribute to the excellent reliability and performance of cardio devices used in open-heart and other surgeries.
Tightly-controlled manufacturing processes and production in clean-room facilities guarantee the high quality demanded for medical device components.

Applications

Venous/cardio filters

Microporous depth filter and woven filters are built into the venous/cardio reservoir.

The filter fabrics serve as highly precise security filters to reliably block particles, blood clots etc.

Arterial filters

The filter surface area is increased through pleating to obtain a high filtration performance.
The thermal properties of polymers, as well as the tuned heat settings, allow an exact fit of the pleat pack to customer requirements.

Oxygenators

Woven fabrics serve as a security filter to remove particulate matter.


Products

Pleated elements

Mono- and multi-layered pleated elements are available in the following dimensions:
width ranges from 25 to 1200 mm and pleat height from 6 to 50 mm.
Pleat counts are unlimited.

Tubes, continuous rolls

Fabrics, single or multilayer, can be heat slit (transport seams only), or ultrasonically welded into tube configurations.
Tube segments can be manufactured using either cold- or laser-cut.

Ribbons

Fabrics can be heat or ultrasonically slit.
Ribbon width ranges from 7 to 2400 mm (heat-slit) or from 4 to 350 mm (ultrasonically slit).


Filtration efficiency

Filtration efficiency of SEFAR MEDIFAB 07-40/25 and 07-40/40 according to ISO 15675.

Water permeability

Comparison of the water permeability of different SEFAR MEDIFAB fabrics having a mesh opening of 40 µm.

Raw materials used are polyester (PETP) and polyamide (PA)

Non-standard materials, e.g. polyetheretherketone (PEEK) or polypropylene (PP)
can be supplied in MEDIFAB quality upon request
